File Download Installation Notes
All download files are InstallShield©, self-installing applications. Detailed
installation and setup documentation is contained in the download, and additional
installation instructions are contained within the Setup section of the manual,
so you may want to install only the documentation at first. To install only
the documentation, choose a Custom installation and mark to install only the documentation.
All documentation is in Adobe Acrobat© format, so you may need to download
this application from www.acrobat.com. Manuals are always located in the \Documentation\mc2
folder of your Dynamics GP installation folder.
After downloading the file, double-click on the file or choose Open from the "Download
Complete" window to install the application.
READ THE INSTALLSHEILD PROGRAM AND SETUP WIZARD ON-SCREEN INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY
TO HELP ASSURE A SUCCESSFUL INSTALLATION!
All program file downloads contain the complete application and documentation (not
patches, service packs or hot fixes).
When you run the download for the very first time on a computer (i.e. no previous
version or build of this application has ever been installed on the workstation),
you will be given different installation options, such as Workstation or Server:

Choose the option that is appropriate for your situation.
If ANY previous version of the program has been installed, you will get the following
choices:

Choose Modify to change the components you wish to install, for example if you need
to perform a Server install after previously choosing a Workstation install.
Choose Repair if you want to duplicate your previous installation options.
This will redo the very last installation you performed. It will not install
a new version or new build if you have previously installed the application.
This applies whether you are installing a new version (i.e. 9.0 after previously
having 8.0 installed) or even a new build of the same major version. New versions
refer to new major releases (i.e. 8.0 vs. 9.0). New builds refer to updated
releases of the same major version (i.e. 9.0m11 vs 9.0m18).
If, after selecting Repair or Modify, you receive any error (such
as XXXXXXXX.CNK not found), choose Remove and finish the process. Then re-run
the downloaded program as if it is a new installation.
Choose Remove to remove the program files from your computer.
Choosing Remove will not remove any mc² application data, it will NOT remove
any Dynamics GP data from your system, nor will it make any changes to you Dynamics.set
file. Do not use this option if you want to completely remove the application
from your Dynamics GP system. If you need to completely remove the application
and any application data from your system, please refer to the Setup section of
the manual. Then use this option to remove the application files. The
download will not remove any application data nor will it edit the Dynamics.set
file.
Using the Add/Remove Programs applet from the Control Panel will
perform the same process as running the download for purposes of Removing or Repairing
your installation. Repair will only reproduce the last installation (i.e. version
and build).; It cannot be used when installing a new build. To install a new
build, you must first choose Remove and then rerun the downloaded file to install
the new build.
Choose the Server Install and run the Setup Wizard on the first
workstation or server installation.
READ NOTES TO PREVIOUS BUILDS. IF YOU ARE UPDATING FROM A MUCH EARLIER BUILD,
YOU WILL NEED TO RUN THE PROCEDURES THAT WERE REQUIRED FOR ANY BUILD IN BETWEEN
YOUR PREVIOUS BUILD AND THE NEW BUILD. This means that if between your old version
and new version the download instructions included check links and reconcile before
installation, you must run that process. You need to install only the latest
build, but you must run any procedures that were mentioned between builds.
If notes for your particular build indicate that you need to run the mc² Setup wizard,
please read the installation instructions contained in the manual.
If you have modified any reports contained in an mc² application, you may need to
recreate the reports. Changes are sometimes made to the reports that the runtime
engine may not properly upgrade. Use the Forms and Reports update utility
in the Dynamics GP Utilities to update the forms and reports.
If that does not work, you can try importing the report from the old reports dictionary.
If that also does not work, you will need to start with a new unmodified report
and recreate your modifications.
